Support the Canal Corridor motion!

Tell your councillor to support the Canal Corridor motion, and go to the council meeting on the 11th Dec!

Gina Dowding and Jon Barry have introduced a motion calling on Lancaster City Council to: - not sell council land for a supermarket or big box retailing, - consult with the public before selling any of its land for supermarkets or Big Boxes, and negotiate a long-term lease with the Music Co-op.

If Councillors vote for this motion it will send a very clear signal to developers Chelverton and Carillion that their current plans are not welcome in Lancaster, and will strengthen the Music Co-ops planning application which is currently being looked at by the council).

Write to your local Councillor and ask them to support the motion at the full council meeting on the 11th December 2002.

Tell them what you think about Chelverton's and Carillion's plans for Lancaster and ask them to make a statement on their own position.

It can be very effective if lots of people turn up to council meetings like this - it would be really good to get 20 people or more to come and observe the full council meeting on the 11th Dec to make sure our councillors vote the right way...
