What would you like to see in the area? More green space, alternativee businesses, e.g. affordable café, arts and crafts space, safe play space for children.Lancaster lacks decent upmarket shops, cafes with OUTDOOR seating Safe and clean, appealing area for people of all ages. Impossible? Too many empty shops and too many naff shops in small units. Please no more tat! NOT large scale multi corps/pubs/retail outlets! A garden, park/green space, performance space, café, children's play area, something for young poops, tourists (sculpture, fountain, a busking area?). Cultural venues, NOT loud music or drinking dens though Would like to see more people use the market. Housing - good quality! NOT another retail park nor houses, make it a safe space for the children. I don't trust the council (ref on councils plans). Cultural quarter, cultural asset - it's a unique chacne, but PLEASE improve the road system, remove the ridiculous and time wasting Caton Road Loop. Save Bridge Hosue re-erect elswhere? Move back the building line. Make a well landscaped "gateay" to Lancaster for those coming in from M6. Include a drop off point for a park and ride scheme? Improve public transport. Congestion charging? But this might be unjsut in Lancaster as there's often no alternative route. Affordable housing for young families in a safe neighbourhood designed for pedestrian access within easy access to local shops. Supporte by local "things to do" - cultural centres, meeting place (traditional pubs) etc. This should be linked to development and the canal itself as a tourist attraction. I like the unspoilt history, please don't destroy anymore. We aren't known for our shops, so destroy culture, and what is left? Why don't we have a shorts centre IN Lancaster? Salt Ayre is too far and cycle path is unsafe! I'd like to see a thriving market which might be student led - a bit like Camden market. I'd like whatever is developed to be an ecological showcase and I'd quite like a refugee centre. Lancaster needs another smaller supermarket IN the town centre - M&S; is too expensive, not much consumer choice. More choice, more food shops. Business oportunities - visual arts, art gallery! I'd like a development to be very modern with eco design central to everything, setting very high standards to inspire other towns and cities. Buildings should be energy efficient and use locally sourced materials to be as environmentally friendly as possible. There's a lack of veggie restaurants/café's linked to arts/cultural venues Good quality café's and restaurants - NOT pubs and fast food outlets |
